With Mayor Roberto Colanzi’s announcement of the proposed budget for Yarra Council for the 2016-2017 financial year, we at Collingwood City FC are happy to see that the council has included a specific mention of funding for improvements at our home ground!
“Installation of sports lights at two soccer fields at Kevin Bartlett Reserve – $180,000"
Council will install sports lights at two soccer fields in Kevin Bartlett Reserve to ensure that lighting levels are appropriate for sports training. This will increase the capacity for training on these pitches. 2016-17 City of Yarra Proposed Budget - pg20
As this budget is still in the proposal stage, we cannot count on the lights being put in just yet, but this does give CCFC hope for future seasons as we look to expand.
With the lights on our grounds this will not only allow safer training during the winter months, but will also give us the ability to try and recruit a women’s team to play in the Victorian State competitions that occur during Friday nights. The addition of a senior and reserve women's side will further go to show that CCFC is focused on being the premier inclusive club in the area.
Collingwood City FC, would like to thank Yarra City and the Council for the efforts being made to improve our shared Reserve.
