The weekend had all the weather we could have hoped for, but the results were not so sunny.
Dan Quinn made his return to the team after a few weeks off for marriage preparations. His mark on the side was immediately felt as he had a brace within the opening half hour, in what looked to be a cruise to victory for a Reserves team that had only been able to manage draws in their latest fixtures. Tom Snaith found the net before the half time whistle leaving St. Kevin's Old Boys on the back foot as the second half began. Andreas Karlsson showed his skill in winding down the opponents half before netting the fourth on the day, firmly putting away the victory and giving our newest recruit, goalie AJ Oversby a starting shutout.
The seniors took the park in an attempt to seal some much valued home points, but the passing game that has kept our side so dominant fell apart. Unable to maintain our possession game, the Citizens looked to long balls but were outdone by the Old Boys back line. A single goal before the half time whistle proved the only difference in the game as the Citizens tried desperately to find communication on the pitch.
The 3rds side faced off against second place Marcellin Old Collegians in one of the few return leg fixtures of the competition after so many changes to the teams that would participate in the 8th Metro League.
Despite only being 0-2 down at half time and having no substitutes to the Collegians seven subs, the Citizens felt good going into the last half, but the rolling subs were their undoing. Mike O'Brien proved the only spark in a dismal second half that the Collegians opened up with an additional five goals.
