Recap at Brandon Park and 3rds Playoffs!

Reserves 2 - 10

The Reserves this weekend took to Freeway Reserve against Brandon Park FC in a prelude to the 1st place vs 2nd place match up of the senior sides and got the best of starts.

An own goal gifted us the lead, promptly folllowed up by a Tom Snaith header that Harry swung into the box made it 2-0 and we thought we had the home side pinned down. Sadly, that would not be the case. Brandon Park salvaged a five goal stretch in the first half to take back the lead and never looked back.

The second half would see another five goal haul by the home side (though the last two were suspiciously offsides).

Seniors 1 - 5

While I could write up a recap, the video team from Football Chaos was on hand to film the seniors match, so why not watch the highlights instead!

3rds Playoff 3 - 4

Our 3rds side made the trek down the bay to take on first place Aspendale SC for a spot in the finals! Much like our previous experience against them, it was noted that we were "old" and "plebs" (seriously, though ... is that a word the kids are using these days? We had to turn down our Walkman's to hear them).

Aspendale scored all four of their goals in the opening half, which left a large hill for your Citizens to climb. A change of formation in the first half brought the game back under our control, sending Jamie Braddock into the middle gave the tempo of the game back to us as we went about wittling the score to our favour.

Lee Hayward came on and scored quickly with his normal casual way, putting his season tally to 36. Luke Pettican then tucked in a free kick just inside the post to half their lead within the first half.

The second half saw a rougher game as Craig Fuller was a source of constant fouls, Rodney Wilson taking an elbow to the face, and a bright note as Ciaran McGettigan set about winning headers within the midfield. Our momentum caught on and Andrew Tzimas scored a superb shot to put us within one, but sadly that is how the score would end on the day.

Again, congratulations to our Thirds for making the Playoffs in their first year! What a great way to start off our new team!
