It was a tough weekend for your Cityzens.
The Reserves locked in a solid point at home with another goal from Batu Cimen. Knox City FC were unfortunate to see one of their players go off with a broken nose after an awkward fall with out Ryan Nolan. Nolan was unfortunate to be book for this, despite the clash being more accidental than malicious.
The Seniors started off on the back foot and could not quite get back into their form. Two goals within the first ten minutes saw the visitor heaping pressure on, and seeing the results.
On to next week.
Sunday saw another two teams take the field on our spare pitch, Burnley Oval. The team that won promotion last year from League 8 was first out of the rooms to face off against League 8 Champion from 2016, Aspendale SC who also made the trip up to League 7. We were forced to make two early changes with our goalie coming off and a winger, both with hamstring issues that we fear will leave them on the bench for a while. Luke Pettican would give the side the first goal of the new season.
Our latest addition to the Mens Division, playing in League 6, secured their first three points against Glen Eira. Luke Katic netted a brace, with individual goals coming from Paul Neff, Marcus Shembrey, James Macleod, and Nick Mountney. Well done to Rob Gillies and his squad!
