It was as great weekend for football! Even if we did have to say good bye on Saturday.
Our Reserves were unlucky to be forced into taking Zale Stobbs off early in the first half in a collision. We got on the score board from a diving header from Reid Bailey (with his height, almost any header would have been diving), and a long range effort from Chris Bennett. In the second half we would tie the score late after a flurry of chance with a cross from Mark Hanly that found Graham Evans lurking in the box.
The Seniors were looking to send off Coach Rich Bates and Adam Gallo with three points, but unfortunately would only manage a consolation goal through Dom Rossi.
Our Sunday 6 team drew against Mooroolbark with a 1-1 scoreline after a Paul Neff goal.
The Sunday 7 would go down 1-4 after a strange red card. Josh Hurn would be sent off after committing a foul outside the box. Despite it a goal was scored and the referee called it back for denying a goal scoring opportunity for a free kick. Despite a goal being scored and the only denial of the opportunity was when the whistle was blown. Kris Clements would give us a goal, but we would still go down to East Bentleigh.
We wish both Bates and Gallo a safe flight and a good trip to the UK and Italy!
