After a few games of dropping points, we are proud to say that we are back! Not that we inspired the win for England this weekend as well, but we did play before them. Maybe Gareth Southgate was taking notes.
The Seniors and Reserves travelled south to face off against Brighton SC. The Reserves were bolstered with some of our Senior players as our ranks have once again swelled as players return from injuries.
The Reserves walked off the field with a 4-2 win, putting them one point off the Reserve League State 3 SE leaders, making the last eight games of the season a tight one as we aim for every piece of silverware we can. Goals came from Graham Evans with a brace, Javier Ureta, and Sami Alebraheme.
The Seniors went down 0-1 in the first half, but all that changed in the second half. Captain John Carroll put in a header from a corner that pushed the team for more goals. Dominic Rossi, operating in a CAM role would grab one while Pat Makris would get a brace, keeping him in the running for the golden boot this season.
The Golds had yet another BYE this week, so they offered their services to the Silvers who were at home against Mt Lilydale Old Collegians SC. The Golds Graham Rawson would get on the score sheet in a 5-1 win that also saw Dale James, Lewis Gyde, Nathan di Curzio, and Jack Griffiths find the back of the net as well.
The Seniors and Reserves are home this week against the Bayside Argonauts who sit only one point above us on the ladder. Support your Cityzens this week in what should be a great match!
