As we anticipate restrictions beginning to ease in late-October, the Club is planning several programs, to cater for all ages and abilities, so we can all return to playing as soon as possible.
In line with the current roadmap, contact training for Juniors will be permitted in groups of 10 from 26 October.
It is at this point that we plan to begin our annual Summer Development Program.
In 2020, we anticipate this program could run for between six to eight weeks, with girls-only sessions on Monday evenings, whilst Tuesday and Thursday evenings would be open to both boys and girls.
These programs are predominantly technical in nature, with this year adding a specific focus to as many small-sided-game situations as possible. Sessions are structured in a fun and engaging way, maximising time on the ball. Training groups are allocated based on age and ability.
We will also reintroduce the Under 6/7 Saturday afternoon program, likely beginning on Saturday 7 November - to accommodate for the Melbourne Cup long weekend the week prior.
The Club is also planning to run a Football 7’s small-sided competition throughout the summer.
This could be in either a 7-aside or 5-aside format, dependent on contact training restrictions.
It would be played right through summer, hopefully beginning in November, running right through to 2021 - with a break over Christmas.
Players can enter this competition as teams, or individuals to be allocated to a team.
We plan to host competitions for all Junior ages, and Seniors, both mens and womens.
All programs are open to both Club and non-Club members.
The Club will also look to introduce further programs as we begin to return to play, including small-group individualised training for players who want extra training over summer, focusing on specific technical aspects of their game.
